About LoveWorthy

What is LoveWorthy’s mission?

Did you know that most individuals with special needs or disabilities are not allowed to have more than $2,000 in their accounts at any time or else they’ll lose their government assistance? A cent over could jeopardize their in-home assistance, transportation, program attendance, and several more disability expenses. Imagine not being able to save up for security deposit, an emergency fund, or funds needed to start a business.

So we had an idea. What if we take on the risk of running the business (taxes, paperwork, etc.), provide these Creators with a place to sell/market themselves, while figuring out a way to navigate profits directly into protected accounts in their name (tax-advantaged, special needs trusts, etc.) so their benefits aren’t in jeopardy? If we want to make entrepreneurship accessible, someone had to do the hard part. So we did.

What does LoveWorthy mean?

Everyone (and what they create) is worthy to be loved. Every art and craft has an audience out there waiting for them. We want people to see the the worth of what our artists and makers create; not just their disability.

Why was LoveWorthy started?

LoveWorthy’s founder (D. Love) noticed a few things when it came to artists with special needs and disabilities trying to make a career for themselves:

  • Most artists’ profits don’t get to stay in their name. In order for these artists to not lose access to government assistance or necessary programs, parents/guardians usually had to keep LLCs and bank accounts in their names.

  • Parents/guardians are taking on the responsibility of being a manager; prompting, coordinating, and learning as they go.

  • Artists and parents/guardians aren’t sure where to sell, how to market, or the best ways to merchandise for current markets and in relation to the work being created.

In an effort to try to find solutions for these three points, LoveWorthy was born.

Who is D. Love?

D. Love has been active in the corporate marketing and promotions field for over a decade. After creating a successful career in Los Angeles, CA, the pandemic hit and the chaos and volume of the city made D. re-evaluate if that’s really where D. wanted to be. In 2020, D. decided to move back to Fallbrook, CA to be closer to family and enjoy the quiet of the country. There D. had the opportunity to work with a local non-profit that served three amazing autistic and disabled artists. During this time, D. gained an outsider view of where artists were being underserved and how parents were struggling to support their kids’ artist careers. Having had no connection to the special needs and disabled world before, those three artists’ aspirations inspired a new calling and passion. Utilizing years of expertise in the corporate marketing and promotions world, D. embarked on the journey to provide services and solutions to those that could benefit from his knowledge the most. And that’s how LoveWorthy came to be.

What type of business is LoveWorthy?

LoveWorthy is a fictitious business name housed under SlagStag LLC. Our state of business is in California..

Who does LoveWorthy serve?

LoveWorthy serves all Creators with special needs or disabilities. While we could offer our services to all types of artists, crafters, and makers, we are focused on giving those with special needs and disabilities an edge in the market.

Where does LoveWorthy stand on inclusivity and discrimination?

LoveWorthy does not and will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its goods, services, activities or operations. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

What does LoveWorthy get out of all of this?

As does any retailer or manager, LoveWorthy takes a percentage of the profit in order to keep the lights on (ex. pay our crew a living wage, legal paperwork, ecommerce/website hosting, etc.).

But the real answer? We get to help. All of our expertise and experience can be shared with people who could use a leg up in the industry. We want our artists’ work to be loved and enjoyed. They deserve that and every opportunity they normally wouldn’t have access to.

The Shop

How do I get my goods into the “Shop”?

We are always open for applications! Please note, we have a very specific process when it comes to accepting goods into our shop. Please CLICK HERE for more information.

Why are you so picky about what goods go in your “Shop”?

Similar to a gallery, the items in our shop are carefully curated; meaning not everything that is submitted makes the cut. LoveWorthy has the responsibility to curate our Creator’s work in a way that gives them the best odds based on current trends and their target audience. Every Creator’s product in our shop has been strategically produced and promoted to help optimize their sales.

Do you offer any print on demand services?

We work with Printful to provide our Creators with the option to expand their line of goods. LoveWorthy can help guide Creators on what merchandise types would help excel their brand amongst their followers. Additionally, profit is made when a customer purchases one of their goods; meaning that Creators and programs can choose to offer these extra items without having to order massive amounts of product inventory. LoveWorthy will host the product in our shop, the customer will purchase the product, and Printful will handle the production, shipping and handling.

How do LoveWorthy Creators get to keep their profits?

One of our main goals at LoveWorthy is to make sure our Creators get to keep and retain their profit. The last thing we want to do is jeopardize our Creator’s government assistance! In order for our Creators to sell in the shop, we require that they have their own protected accounts in their name (tax-advantaged, special needs trusts, etc.). LoveWorthy sells their goods and then deposits the Creator’s profit into their protected accounts; letting them keep the money with little or no income tax and without the need of a parent/guardian to hold the money in their name.

Regional Centers/DOR/DDS

Who do you currently work with?

While we are not currently vendorized through San Diego Regional Center, we are able to serve SDRC clients that are part of their Self Determination program.

As programs from other states come forward requesting LoveWorthy’s services, we will do our best to accommodate and find solutions that work with their local Regional Centers.

How can SDRC Self Determination clients use your services?

While we wait for our vendor application to be approved, we are able to be subcontracted under Self Determination client budgets.

What is Self Determination?

Self Determination gives our artists and makers the flexibility to choose where they want their monthly budget to go. With every person’s budget being different, we are available to work with facilitators and person-centered planning to help work with their individual budgets.
